Blues is the apex of the pyramid. Blues is the point where all popular American music genres nexus in. As students from Irving ISD have been learning this week "The Blues had a Baby and they called it Rock and Roll!" The reason why The Blue Shoe Project uses blues comes in the next verse "It makes you feel good from your head down to your toes!"

Blues is the common ground. Blues is the neutral territory. Blues has the ability to connect with kids from all backgrounds unlike any other genre. Blues is the genre that defined popular music as we know it today and its proverbial shot was heard around the world.
